Officers' team inspects markets, books 16 defaulters

JAMMU: Following the directions of Deputy Commissioner Jammu, the checking committee today conducted inspection of various markets in Janipur and Paloura.

During the inspection, the team inspected around 50 shops and khokas and booked 16 defaulters imposing a fine of Rs. 23000 on them.

The market inspection laid emphasis on checking the meat, fruit and vegetable shops wherein focus was given to overall hygiene, display of rate lists, complaints of overcharging, food safety licence, certificates of Weights and Measure Department besides encroachment of footpaths and lanes.

The inspection team was comprised of Tehsildar Jammu North, Mohammad Bashir, SHO Janipur, Naresh Kumar, Food Safety Officer Jammu, Parvez Choudhary, Inspector Legal Metrology Jammu, Jagdeep Raj and Inspector FC&CA Jammu, Raman Kumar.
