ANANTNAG: As part of its continued IEC Campaign, Jammu and Kashmir AIDS Control Society in collaboration with a local social group organized a sensitization cum awareness program on Drug De-addiction and HIV/AIDS Control for the Masjid Imams and senior citizens of the area today at Dooru Shahabad.
Patron Soutul Awliya Trust J&K, Moulana Abdul Rashid Dawoodi was the Chief Guest at the function and ADC Anantnag, Sandeep Singh Bali attended the event as Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Moulana Abdul Rashid Dawoodi said that parents need to be cautious about the activities of their children and such awareness programmes should be organised at grassroots level to save the future generations from drug addiction.
ADC, Sandeep Singh Bali; Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Khursheed and Secretary Red Cross Society Anantnag, Dr. M.Y. Zagoo called upon the participants to put up coordinated efforts and exhorted the stakeholders to work in synergy for tackling the problem of drug abuse effectively.
Earlier in his welcome address, Mukhtar Ahmad Dar, Assistant Director (Finance) JKACS talked about the ill effects of drug addiction and substance abuse especially for the youth and the vulnerable sections of society.
Briefing the participants about the danger of HIV/AIDS, Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan, Assistant Director (LS) JKACS said that proper awareness must be raised among the masses and dissemination of the information of HIV/AIDS is required to address the grave issue.
Chief Education Officer, Tehsildar, SDPO, Principal MHSS Dooru and prominent Masjid Imams and senior citizens of the area attended the event. |
