SHOPIAN: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Shopian today conducted a Capacity Building Programme (CBP) for 30 tribal students at Government Degree College (GDC) Shopian.
The event was held under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) initiative of ICAR, aiming to empower young minds from marginalized sections through knowledge and skill development.
Prof. Rihana Habib Kanth, Director Extension, SKUAST-K, was the chief guest of the event, who delivered an inspiring keynote address. She highlighted the importance of education for tribal youth, urging participants to develop themselves through SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) in order to better understand their potential and areas of growth.
Earlier, the programme formally began with an opening talk by Dr. Zaffar Afroz Badri, Head of KVK Shopian, who introduced the objectives and structure of the capacity-building session.
The event was attended by several dignitaries including Dr. Amal Saxena, who stressed the importance of improving communication skills to unlock opportunities in both professional and personal development.
Dr. Liqyat Ahmad Choudhary spoke on the vast scope of agriculture as a sustainable career path for rural youth.
Dr. Irfan Basti spoke on awareness talk focusing on rural empowerment and access to Government schemes.
Dr. Shaiq Ahmad Ganai, who also led a parallel Front Line Demonstration (FLD) session, enriched students' practical benefits of proper hygiene and sanitation.
As part of the programme, soap, detergent, and towels were distributed among the participants to promote hygiene awareness. |
