KUPWARA: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kupwara, Gulzar Ahmad in the presence of Dr. Shabir Ahmad Teli, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Kupwara formally launched the FMD Round 6 Vaccination program under the flagship National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP) in the district today.
The chair emphasized the importance of maintaining the cold chain throughout the vaccination process, completing assigned targets in a time-bound manner, and ensuring real-time entry of data on the NDLM portal.
Under this vital initiative, a total of 1.20 lakh eligible bovine population across the district will be vaccinated free of cost in a mission mode within the stipulated time frame. The programme aims to prevent the spread of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), ensuring better animal health and improved rural livelihoods.
To ensure effective coverage, 109 Vaccination Squads have been constituted to operate across 406 villages and municipal committees in the district.
In a first-of-its-kind move, the department has deployed 'Vaccination Express Vehicles' comprising 5 motorcycles and 3 four-wheeled vehicles to reach remote and far-flung areas, leaving no animal unvaccinated.
