Two drug peddlers nabbed in Katra, heroin recovered

KATRA: Continuing the drive against drug abuse launched by District Police Reasi, today Patrolling party of Police Station Katra while doing patrolling duty at Searly, Katra intercepted a person namely Sunny Mehra S/o Parshotam Mehra R/o Ward No. 10, Panthal Tehsil Katra District Reasi, while he was going on foot from Searly towards Katra, during frisking 03.70 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession.

In this regard, a Case FIR No. 125/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS ACT stands registered at P/S Katra and investigation initiated to unearth the forward and backward linkages.

In another case, Police party of P/S Katra laid a special Naka at Balini, Katra and stopped an Auto bearing Registration No. JK14A-8417. During Checking and frisking 03.60 grams of heroin was recovered from Auto driver namely Arjun Singh S/o Panchal Singh R/o Gunni Parthal, Tehsil Katra District Reasi.

In this regard, a Case FIR No. 123/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS ACT stands registered at P/S Katra and investigation initiated to unearth the forward and backward linkages.

The whole operation led by 𝗦𝗛𝗢 𝗣/𝗦 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽. 𝗞𝗵𝘆𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗮𝗻 𝗞𝗵𝗮𝗷𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗗𝗣𝗢 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗗𝗿. 𝗕𝗵𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗺 𝗗𝘂𝗯𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗣 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗩𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗻.

𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘃𝗶𝗿 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗵, Senior Superintendent of Police, Reasi, while sharing the details, reiterated the commitment of Reasi Police towards a drug-free society. He stated,
"Reasi Police is working on a multipronged strategy to eliminate drug abuse and illicit liquor trade from the district. While awareness programs are being organized across the district, strict legal action is being taken against drug peddlers, including booking them under the PIT NDPS Act."
