GDC Marh organises Poster making competition

JAMMU: Under the theme "My constitution My Pride" Poster making competition on Prevention of Sexual Harassment at workplace (POSH) and slogan writing and Rangoli making competition on Menstrual Hygiene and AIDS was organized her at Government Degree College Marh with an aim to spread awareness among women and to stop discrimination against women.

The programme was held under the guidance of the Principal of the college Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul.

The Principal informed that the aim of the activity is to educate students about these critical issues and equip them with knowledge and resources to combat such offences.

He interacted with the female students and enquired about their understanding regarding their rights as a protection tool against harassment. The theme of the poster making competition was "Our voice is the future" in which 20 students participated.

The Students prepared colorful posters, conveying information regarding prevention and protection of women against sexual harassment at the workplace and to ensure effective redressal of complaints of sexual harassment.

Rangoli making and slogan competition writing was also organized on Menstrual hygiene and AIDS to increase awareness, promote good health and sanitation among adolescent girls.

The theme of the competition was "Making menstruation a normal fact of life by 2030".

About 25 students participated in the activity, prepared vibrant and bright rangolis highlighting the importance of maintaining hygiene and healthy practices during menstruation.

Students wrote slogans on AIDS awareness which served as a reminder of the global struggle to end HIV-related stigma.

Principal appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee and exhorted that these activities play a major role to raise awareness and educate the students about HIV infection/ AIDS and its preventive measures.

The event was conducted and coordinated by Imtiaz Shahid (HOD Zoology), Madhavi Parasher (HOD Botany), Anjana Chib (HOD EVS) and Dr. Shakun Sharma (HOD) Sociology.

The event was managed by Kashish of Sem 3rd, Abhay Singh Jamwal of sem Ist and Navpreet Kourof Sem 3rd. Students along with Prof Sachin Kumar Bhagat (HOD Political Science) read Preamble in the college campus, also got registered themselves on My Gov app and read preamble online.
