One Act Play, Light Vocals Enthrall Audience on Day-3 of Youth Fest at JU

JAMMU: On the third day of the ongoing ‘36th Inter-University North Zone Youth Festival-ANTARNAAD', being organized by the University of Jammu under the aegis of Association of Indian Universities (AIU), One Act Play, Light Vocals, Elocution and other events overwhelmed the audience.
The powerful performances by the participating students in One Act Play, at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, left the audience spellbound and in tears, as the participants potently touched some of the relevant and sensitive issues of the society.
Students of Punjabi University Patiala beautifully showcased their Act on the theme ‘Mother', which depicted the importance of family relationships.
This was followed by another enthralling performance by Panjab University, Chandigarh, wherein the students conveyed the message that there is no shortcut to success. In another mesmerizing performance, I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Kaporthala staged a Punjabi play, ‘Ghungroo' which accentuated the problems of the transgender community in Indian society.
Participants from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar received a bundle of applauses for their act ‘Thank You Christy', which portrayed the story of a specially-abled painter, who braved all odds to be a successful artist. Next in line was Doon University Uttarakhand, wherein participants performed on the theme ‘Mythology'.
Touching the emotional susceptibilities of the audience, Lovely Professional University performed ‘Kanvar', which highlighted the social evil of Sati. Similarly, Chandigarh University, Mohali presented the life history of the legendary ‘Michael Jackson'. Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda performed on ‘Social Atrocities'.
Last but not least in the league, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana highlighted the importance of Women Empowerment.
Padma Shri Balwant Thakur, former Cultural Diplomat of India to South Africa and Mauritius was the chief guest on the occasion, whereas eminent Dogri writer and Sahitya Akademi Awardee, Prof. Lalit Magotra was the special guest. Both dignitaries were felicitated by the University.
At the second venue of the day, The Business School, the Elocution competition kept the audience intact to their seats, wherein participating students from 13 Universities gave captivating performances on the topic "Youth and Vibrant India" (Yuwa aur Jivaant Bharat).
Third venue of the festival, Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium, also witnessed soul-soothing performances in Light Vocals Solo and Classical Vocals.
In Light Vocals Solo, a total of 18 Universities participated, whereas in Classical Vocals, students from 10 Universities participated and it was based on the theme, ‘The Raga and the Taal in Hindustani and Carnatic Style'. Special Guests for Classical Vocals were V K Sambyal and Anil Soni.
The fourth venue of the day, Social Sciences Block witnessed a plethora of activities, including Poster Making, Photography and Mehandi Art.
Students from 14 universities participated in Poster making competition, which was organized on the lawns of the University. The theme of the Poster making competition was ‘India as a Vishwa Guru' in which participants made some vibrant and eye-catching posters.
The venue also witnessed another creative event of Mehandi Art, which was based on the theme, "Traditional, Ornamental and Innovation Mehandi", in which 15 Universities participated and expressed their creativity through henna. Meanwhile, in Photography, students from 15 Universities displayed their photographic skills on the theme, "Buildings with Models".
The day ended with a colourful musical show, organized by the Alumni Association of the University of Jammu, comprised of the former winners of display your talent, zonal and national events over the years.
The participating teams included the University of Jammu, Dev Sanskriti Vishavidhalya Haridwar Uttarakhand, GADVASU-Ludhiana, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST-J), Doon University Uttarakhand, Punjab University Chandigarh, University of Kashmir, Cluster University of Jammu, Punjabi University Patiala, CT University Ludhiana, IK Gujral Punjab Technical University Kapurthala, Himachal Pradesh University Shimla, GNDU Amritsar, Lovely Professional University, Chandigarh University, Punjab Agricultural University Ludhiana, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University Bathinda and DAV Jalandhar.
Day 4 shall feature Skit, Folk Dance, Group Song Indian, Clay Modeling, Installation, Collage and Quiz competition.
