DFCO Kishtwar intensifies activities to promote Eat Right Challenge-2 Campaign

KISHTWAR: To ensure the Safety, Quality and Wholesome availability of Sweets & allied products in the market, the team of Food Safety, DFCO Kishtwar, led by the Enforcement Officer, Prethipal Singh today inspected main markets in Kishtwar town and carried out 10 Risk based online inspections under FSSA.

To check the quality of proprietary foods with High Risk tendency, including sweets, the Officer concerned lifted 4 samples for analysis under FSSA, Rules & regulations and most specifically under Eat Right Challenge-2.

Besides, the team asked the local sweet manufacturers to make use of permitted colors, permitted additives & permitted preservatives, besides apprising them about the hazardous effects of un-permitted colors, additives & preservatives.

Simultaneously, sweet shopkeepers were strictly advised to stick to the packaging & labeling regulations.

He insisted on showcasing details on the products viz. date of manufacturing, date of packaging, FSSAI license number, the net weight , phone no./contact no. and other description of the product along with Composition.

The Officer asserted that this sensitization under Eat Right Challenge 2 shall continue.

Laying emphasis, it was enjoined upon all the Food Business Operators including Sweet shops & Bakery dealers to get their licenses renewed & file the annual return through the portal of FOSCOS.

The Officer concerned warned the Food Business Operators to desist from adulteration & malpractices and avoid overpricing and display the licence at the prominent place of their establishments.

Notably, he laid stress on hygienic practices of the establishments including kitchen, workshops, tools & serving areas, also advised to adopt personal Hygiene of the Food handlers by keeping the environment of the premises neat, clean & well sanitized.
