DC Ramban presides over awareness programme at NCI

Asks youth to contribute in maintaining ecological balance

RAMBAN: Department of Wildlife Protection today organized an awareness programme here in New Convent Institute (NCI), Ramban as a part of the ongoing ‘Wildlife Week' celebration.

On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam presided over the function. The event, organised by the Department of Wildlife Protection, Chenab Division Kishtwar, and Range Batote- Ramban, also witnessed debate and painting competitions on the theme ‘Conservation of Forest and Livelihood.'

The principal of the Host School, Mehboob Khan, Range Officer, Wildlife, Mansoor Ahmed and other officers, staff members and students also participated in the programme.

Highlighting the objectives of observing Wildlife Week, the Deputy Commissioner urged the participants, particularly the children, to adopt an eco eco-friendly lifestyle. The Department is conducting week-long awareness programmes all over the UT of Jammu and Kashmir to create awareness among people about the importance of conservation of wildlife, habitat and the environment in general.

The Deputy Commissioner marked the students as future nation builders and asked them to contribute towards sustainable development and protection of the environment including maintaining ecological balance on the earth.

The DC also appreciated the students for their presentations in the e debate and painting competitions and asked them to regularly take part in extracurricular activities for their overall personality development.

Meanwhile, the speakers sensitized the participants about the protection of wildlife species and forests.

Later, the Department of Wildlife Protection also distributed prizes among the winners and participants of the competitions.
