DC Kathua discusses draft District Skill Development Plan at DSC meet

KATHUA: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rahul Pandey today chaired the meeting of District Skill Committee (DSC) here at DC office complex to discuss draft District Skill Development Action Plan under Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP), a programme of the Ministry of Skill Development, Government of India.

The DC stressed upon the stakeholders to cover all those skill sets required for the industrial demands keeping in view the changing dynamics of industrial footfall in Kathua under New Industrial Policy-2021. He asked them to map the skills as per the need and profile so that individuals from all categories could be covered and benefited.

The DC further asked the representatives of industries, including major industrial units to help administration in ensuring right mapping of skills. He also directed concerned officers to share the details of available training courses/course structure alongwith the minimum qualification/eligibility criteria in ITI's, polytechnic and other skill imparting institutions so as to spread awareness among the masses.

The DC directed all the stakeholders to incorporate new ideas, suggestions in the draft before finalization of the District Skill Development Plan.

Among others, GM Chenab Textile Mills, GM DIC, Principal ITI Hiranagar, Principal ITI Kathua, CEO, CAO, CPO, DSWO, AD Employment, Handloom and Handicraft, President Industries Association, Officers from other concerned departments attended the meeting.
