Poonch Campus organizes awareness program on "Menstrual Health and Hygiene"

POONCH: Poonch Campus University of Jammu today organised awareness program on "Menstrual Health.

The program was organized in cooperation with Dr Rahul from PHC Chandak Poonch.

The function was attended by Tehsildar Haveli Poonch, Anjum Khattak, BDO Nangali, Ayaz Bhatt, Dr Farhana Koser, Dr Rubia, Dr Suraksha, Dr Muzafar, Sumya, Kalpna students of Poonch campus and students of G.G.H.School Chandak besides members of civil society.

On this occasion, MSakshi Gupts of Ammucare Charitable trust provided sports goods and stationery items to students.

Director Poonch Campus Prof Dipankar Sen Gupta in his message congratulated the faculty of the Campus for organising such programs. "Organizing such program on this important topic will help to aware the society," he said adding further that Poonch Campus will organise such awareness programs in future also.

NSS Coordinator Kalpana Sudan while speaking on the occasion said that before COVID-19 pandemic, of the 1·9 billion individuals who menstruate, an estimated 500 million were unable to attain menstrual health. "Achieving menstrual health is fundamental to the equality, rights, and dignity of all individuals," she added

She further said that a healthy diet, avoiding salt in your cooking and food, reducing caffeine intake, restoring your sleep cycle, regular daily exercise and reducing stress may help improve your quality of life and significantly reduce the severity of PMS symptoms, including reducing moodiness and painful periods.

Dr Rubia Bukhari while speaking on the occasion said that Poonch Campus has started organizing awareness programs which is directly or indirectly linked with society.

She further said that in future also such awareness programs will be organized to highlight social evils.

"Right now drug menace is destroying the youths of the country and Poonch Campus in Collaboration with District Administration will certainly organize an awareness program on drug menace, " Dr. Rubia added.

She thanked the health Department especially PHC Chandak for their support and cooperation in organising this event.
