Awareness event on Special Summary Revision-2022 held in GDC Kishtwar

Scores of eligible students registered as voters

KISHTWAR: An awareness programme on Special Summary Revision was today organized at Government Degree College Kishtwar under Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Programme.

District Election Officer, Dr Devansh Yadav was the chief guest of the programme which was also attended by ADDC, Sham Lal; ADC, Kishori Lal Sharma; State Nodal Officer SVEEP, Akhter Hussain Qazi; ENT Sajjad Ahmed, besides staff of the college.

More than 500 students and staff of GDC Kishtwar took part in the SVEEP activity programme. The participants were sensitized about the special Summary revision of Photo Electoral Rolls through Cultural skits presented by students besides a Symposium.

The winners were felicitated with trophies and mementos.

Further, the awareness team educated the participants about the online portal for registration of new eligible voters/Deletion or any other correction or modification in his/her Electoral Roll record through National Voters Service Portal (NVSP) and Voter Helpline App.

Besides, on spot Voter's Registration Camp for the registration of age specific college students was conducted in the premises of college.

About 500 registration forms (Form 6) were distributed among the students the other day and 150 filled in forms were received today from the eligible voters.

Speaking on the occasion, the DEO Kishtwar informed that since 2019 the summary revision exercise was stuck due to corona pandemic and now it has been resumed and those who have attained 18 yrs age as on 1st Oct 2022 can enroll themselves in Electoral list, while old voters can go for modifications, if any.

"The district Administration is going to further gear up IEC activities by roping in the PRIs and media persons under SVEEP programme in Chatroo and Paddar to ensure registration of all eligible voters under Special Summary Revision-2022," he informed.

Terming students as brand ambassadors, he urged them to spread awareness under SVEEP to strengthen the democratic institution of Country.

State Nodal officer SVEEP also spoke on the occasion and threw light on the various procedures under Summary Revision of Electoral Roll.
