MP inaugurates ‘Little Tibet Films Festival’

LEH: Member of Parliament (MP) form Ladakh Lok Sabha constituency, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal inaugurated the weeklong film festival i.e. "Little Tibet Films Festival (LTFF)" organised by Tendrel in collaboration with Himalayan Film House (HFH) and Ladakh Media and Culture Society (LMCS) Leh on Tuesday.

On the occasion, Tibetan CRO, Chentan Angchuk, LTO Director, Mipham Otsal, Artists, films makers, domestic and foreign tourist were present to witness the inaugural session.

During the inaugural session internationally acclaimed film "Shepherdess of the Glaciers" by Stanzin Dorjai Gya was screened for the viewers.

Appreciating Ladakhi film makers for producing number of films and documentaries to highlight unique culture and tradition MP JTN said that inspite of having many challenges the local film makers try to safeguard the culture and customs by showcasing it through films and documentry. Referring to the current situation in the Valley MP urged the domestic and foreign tourist to be ambassador of Ladakh to spread good messages of Ladakh and added that there is no problems for tourist to visit Ladakh even the situation in the Valley is not favourable for visitors.

Tendrel Founder, Director Gyalpo Tashi, LTFF Director Ayesha Mohan, Co-director Stanzin Namgyal and HFH Director Stanzin Dorjai Gya also spoke on the occasion.

Earlier, presenting the welcome speech LMCS Advisor, Tsetan Angchuk said that film makers in Ladakh have number of challenges like lack of proper auditorium, few viewers but in spite of that as many as 54 documentaries and films were produced by local film makers since 1990 with first Ladakhi film as "Chespey Khachat". He urged MP to extend help to film makers to build a proper auditorium hall in Leh.
