NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Nishikant Dubey launched a scathing attack on the Congress on Friday, accusing them of surrendering key government decisions to the United States.
He shared a 1986 US intelligence letter suggesting that Rajiv Gandhi replaced Foreign Minister Baliram Bhagat after he criticised America's invasion of Libya, appointing P Shiv Shankar to please Washington and focus on acquiring Western technology.
In a post on X, Nishikant Dubey shared a letter and wrote, "The Gandhi family surrendered before America. Here, who would be the Foreign Minister, who would be the Finance Minister, was also decided by America."
"In 1986, Baliram Bhagat ji, the Foreign Minister, was immediately replaced because he spoke out against the American invasion of Libya. Who became the Minister? P Shivshankar, who knew nothing about foreign policy?" the post reads.
