KATHUA: To mark the International Labour Day, the Labour Department Kathua today organised an awareness-cum-felicitation programme in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and the Health Department.
The event was aimed at acknowledging the contribution of the working class and spreading awareness regarding their rights and welfare.
Assistant Labour Commissioner Piyusha Khajuria presided over the programme and threw light on the historical significance and global relevance of Labour Day. She highlighted various initiatives being taken by the Labour Department for the welfare and empowerment of the workforce.
As part of the programme, workers from different industrial and service sectors were felicitated with Certificates of Appreciation in recognition of their commendable services and dedication. The initiative was lauded by the attendees as a morale booster for the labour community.
On the occasion, a legal awareness sessions were also conducted by panel lawyers of DLSA wherein workers were sensitised about important labour laws and legal safeguards available to them. These sessions aimed at empowering the workforce through legal literacy.
In a step towards ensuring the well-being of the workers, a free medical camp was also organised at the venue by the Health Department in association with the Ayush Department. The camp provided basic health check-ups and consultations to the workers present.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from workers across various sectors and reaffirmed the Labour Department's commitment towards ensuring the welfare, safety, and empowerment of the labour force in the district. |
