GDC Ramgarh hosts documentary Screening on Child Abuse protection

SAMBA: In a vital initiative aimed at spreading awareness and fostering a safer environment for children and young adults, Government Degree College Ramgarh organized a special screening of a documentary focused on the sensitive and pressing issue of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) under the purview of the National Human Rights Commission.

The event was held under the guidance and leadership of the Principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Meeru Abrol.

The documentary gave a clear understanding of the serious issue of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). It showed the emotional, legal, and social effects of this crime through real-life stories, expert talks, and the efforts of law enforcement. The screening helped students and teachers understand why it's important to stop the spread of such harmful content. It also explained laws like the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the IT Act, along with steps being taken in India and around the world to fight this problem. The programme aimed to foster empathy, digital literacy, and a proactive stance among students, encouraging them to be vigilant, responsible digital citizens

The event was coordinated by Anjali Devi with dedicated support from faculty members including Dr. Snobar, Prof. Sandeep Kumari, Ashok Kumar, Prof. Brham Dutt, Dr. Shivali Panjgotra, Dr. Neeraj Bargotra, Priya Sharma, Dr. Susheel Kumar and Sayema.

In her address, Anjali highlighted the need to spread awareness about online safety and educate students about the dangers of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) and how to report it. She stressed that young people must be aware of the risks they face online and know how to protect themselves.

Anjali urged students to speak up if they ever come across harmful or illegal content online and to always report it to trusted adults or authorities.
