Delhi airport, over 10 Delhi hospitals receive hoax bomb threat e-mails

NEW DELHI: Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) and over 10 hospitals received bomb threats via emails on Sunday, officials said.

The Delhi Police said that the threat was a hoax and further investigation is on for the miscreants who sent the email.

Delhi fire department said that they received complaints from two hospitals in Burari and Mangolpuri about the bomb threats. Additionally, IGI Airport also received a bomb threat email, it added.

Officials from the department said they received calls from Burari Government Hospital and Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Mangolpuri in Delhi. Further investigation is on, they said.

Police said that they also received a complaint from Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital in Shahdara at around 3 pm on Sunday about the bomb threats, but following investigation, they didn't find any explosives inside the hospital.

Bomb threats were sent to around 100 schools in Delhi, two in Noida and one in Lucknow on May 1, which later turned out to be a hoax. The threats were sent to the schools using a Russian email service.

Delhi Police had said it had conducted a thorough check of all schools that received the bomb threat and found nothing. Ravinder Yadav, Special CP, Delhi Police (Crime), said some hospitals also received similar emails on April 30.

Delhi Public School's (DPS) Dwarka and Vasant Kunj units, Mother Mary's School in East Mayur Vihar, Sanskriti School, Amity School in Pushp Vihar and DAV School in South West Delhi were among the 100 schools that received the threat. In Noida, DPS and Apeejay School also received similar threats.
