JKEEGA Calls off sit in protest on Saturday; Govt constitutes committee to assess reasonable losses feeder wise

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates Association led by Er.Sachin Tickoo President and Pirzada Hidayatullah General secretary held multiple round of talks with the Administration in the presence of Chief Secretary and attended among others by Principal Secretary PDD.

The Talks were held in a very cordial atmosphere wherein the association put forward that identifying the areas of poor performance and taking action against such elements is top most priority of the Engineers as well, but at the same time it has also been entrusted the responsibility to see that a justified, fair ground, level playing field is there for all to perform and be evaluated based on realistic achievable vis a vis the key parameters of Billing efficiency, collection efficiency and overall reduction of AT&C losses.

While stating that association is deeply perturbed by the suspensions of 12 Engineers of the Power Development department currently on deputation to JPDCL/KPDCL on unrealistic grounds by the Administrative Department Power Development Department.

These engineers have been made scapegoats and their suspensions has been used to hide real problems like poor infrastructure, lack of adequate staff and non metering, partial ABC cabling and most importantly poor performance of central PSU's in implementing centrally sponsored schemes. These are basic minimum requirements for fixing accountability in realistic terms.

After deliberations between both sides, the management agreed to issue charge sheet immediately and give a rethought to the suspension orders based on reasoned replies of the concerned engineers and it was also mutually decided that a Technical committee to evaluate and submit reasonable achievable vis a vis the Billing efficiency, Collection efficiency and AT&C losses with respect to 11KV feeders shall be benchmark for recording the improvement and efforts made to achieve these shall serve a ground to justify ones performance in a particular place. The order to this effect was issued post the meeting vide order no 67-JKPDD of 29/03/3024

Based on the above positive developments and understanding of the management about the key measures sought by the association for ensuring accountability in a reasoned manner from all engineers, JKEEGA Guidance Council has decided to call off the sit in protest programme scheduled on 30th March and hoped that administration shall review the suspension in time bound manner as agreed in the meeting and in future, evaluation with the benchmarks set by the Technical committee on loss reduction, and after giving sufficient opportunity to the person in question, such harsh measures will be thought about
