2 drug peddlers among four held in Jammu; cash, contraband seized

JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested four drug peddlers including two interstate drug peddlers and recovered consignment of contraband and Rs 4.20 lakh cash from their possession in Kathua and Samba districts.

Kathua Police said, "Based on specific information regarding smuggling of narcotics within the district, Kathua Police today recovered around 400g charas, 150g ganja along with Rs 4,20,000 cash during naka checking at Chapper Morh with the arrest of one person.

In another incident, Kathua police recovered around 15G heroin (Chitta) during naka checking at NHW Chann Rorian Rajbagh area and arrested one person identified as Sadiq besides seizing an Alto car.

Meanwhile, the Samba police have arrested two inter-state suppliers of heroin.

Samba Police said, "The arrested heroin suppliers have been identified as Shamasu Din alias Bachu and Mushtaq Ahmed alias Nayat both residents of Rakh Barotian Vijaypur of Samba district."

"They used to collect consignment of heroin from Punjab and supply it further to the small suppliers and individual addicts of Samba and Jammu districts on huge margins, police added.
