Over 6.69 lakh Aadhaar cards issued in Pulwama

PULWAMA: In order to finalize the action plan for saturation of Aadhar cards and mandatory biometric update in all age groups, a meeting of District Level Aadhaar Monitoring Committee (DLAMC) was held today under the chairmanship of Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Pulwama, Dr Sheikh Ab. Aziz, here.

Programme Officer ICDS, Lead Bank Manager J&K Bank, General Manager CSC Centres, Incharge Aadhar Seeding Centre Pulwama, officers from Education Deptt, Aadhar Operators of ICDS, Education, CSC and other concerned were present in the meeting.

At the outset, the ADDC held threadbare deliberation about the mechanism to be adopted for Aadhaar saturation in all age groups and mandatory biometric update of children in the district besides requirement of additional enrolment and update centres.

He also took a detailed review of the statistics of Aadhaar saturation process under different age groups and status of Aadhaar Seva Kendras operating in Pulwama. He was also briefed on the initiatives being undertaken to cover the age groups of 0-5 years, 5-18 years and above 18 years in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sheikh said that keeping the Aadhaar updated helps in ease of living, better service delivery and enables accurate authentication.

Dr. Sheikh, asked the Programme Officer ICDS to ensure all children in the age group of 0-5 are enrolled at concerned Anganwadi Centres and Immunization Centres.

He also asked for establishing special Aadhaar enrolment counters in the district to ensure Aadhaar registration/enrolment facility for new born babies so that all newborn are registered at well time to push the saturation process.

It was given out in the meeting that additional enrollment and updation centres will be set up in the uncovered areas of the district for the convenience of the general public. He asked the Officers to submit progress of Aadhaar registrations on a daily basis.

Terming the Aadhaar enrolment a multi-agency process, the ADDC called upon all concerned Departments to launch mass awareness campaigns in their jurisdictions to cover all population under Aadhaar enrolment.

The ADDC further urged the residents to update their mobile numbers and email id for Aadhaar and also get mandatory biometric update for children at the age of 5 and 15, done within the next 15 days. He also stressed that progress of Aadhaar enrolment target of children between 0-5 years and 5 -18 years must be achieved cent percent in a time bound manner.

Earlier, the ADDC was informed that as many as 33 Aadhar enrolment centres including 15 in SSA (School Education), 7 in CSC, 2 at J&K Bank and 9 kits in ICDS are presently operational in Pulwama to facilitate citizens to get Aadhar cards besides update already issued cards.
