7 Day NSS Special Winter Camp Commences at GDC Ramgarh

SAMBA: The National Service Scheme unit ‘Prabha' of Government Degree College Ramgarh today organized the maiden 7-Day NSS Special Winter Camp under the banner of ‘My College My Pride' and ‘My Town My Pride'.

The Camp was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Satinder Kaur, the Principal of the College, in presence of NSS Programme Officer, staff members and Volunteers of the College with the lighting of the traditional lamp.

In her address, the Principal of the College highlighted the important role that the NSS as an organization plays towards social and national development.

She said that the NSS understands the community in which they work and understands its relation to the community. It identifies the needs and problems of the community and involves itself in problem-solving. It helps in developing a sense of social and civic responsibility amongst the NSS volunteers. They can utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems.

They also develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities, and they acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes.

These volunteers develop the capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters, and practice national integration and social harmony.

She congratulated the organizing committee and the volunteers for organizing this Camp.

Dr. Shamsher Lal, the NSS Programme Officer, gave a detailed account of the activities to be covered during the Camp's tenure. He also motivated the NSS volunteers to participate in the activities to be carried out during the Camp with zeal and enthusiasm. He encouraged them to learn new things and skills that will help them in their lives to overcome various situations.

On the first day of the Camp, a poster-making and slogan-writing competition was held. The theme of the competition was ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan'. A total of 30 students participated in the competition.

Members of the NSS committee, Convener IQAC, Dr. Aditi Khajuria and other faculty members, and a large number of students were present in the inaugural session of the Camp.

The inaugural session of the Camp concluded with the National Anthem.
