Fencer Shreya shines in World Cup

JAMMU: Ace fencer of Jammu and Kashmir, Shreya Gupta gave an excellent display of fencing in the World Cup held at Budapest in Hungary from January 7 to 8, wherein she reached the knockout stage after winning pool matches.

In the pool matches, she defeated Hungary fencer by 5-3, France fencer by 5-4 and also defeated Romanian fencer by 5-1 in one sided match.

The other women fencers from India including Kritarthi Kotwal of J&K, Baby Reddy and Gauri of Telangana failed to qualify the pools besides giving their best efforts.
