UJAA organizes GMP on Data Science Leadership @ Women

JAMMU: As part of its Global Mentoring Programme (GMP) series, University of Jammu Alumni Association (UJAA) organized an online interactive session on the theme "Data Science Leadership @ Women" with Dr Vishakha Munshi Mujoo, an international alumni of The Business School, University of Jammu.

Dr Vishakha Munshi Mujoo is currently working as Associate Director, Kite Pharma, USA and is also FIRST Challenge Robotics Coach. UJAA started its GMP with an objective to connect with the international alumni of University of Jammu and create opportunities for the students to interact and engage with international alumni of University.

While speaking on the theme, Dr Vishakha Munshi Mujoo stressed upon that women students should come forward proactively especially in the domain of Data Science, which has tremendous potential at the global level.

While highlighting unconscious gender bias at the workplace at the global level, she was of the view that women have inherent capabilities of multitasking, problem solving, intuitiveness, collaboration, inclusion and perseverance and therefore can excel in the field of Data Science, an area which is predominantly male oriented.

Crediting her success at the global level to the learning at University of Jammu, she motivated students to find their own strengths, be strategic and visionary to explore new opportunities, learn from failures and find their own happiness.

Prof Prakash C Antahal, Dean Students Welfare, JU and President, UJAA briefed about the objectives of UJAA & GMP.

Prof Versha Mehta, Dean Faculty of Business Studies, appreciated the efforts of the UJAA team in creating this innovative programme through which the students got an opportunity to have global perspectives of themes of contemporary relevance.

Prof Sameer Gupta, Director, The Business School University of Jammu , said young students should proactively engage with the alumni and develop skills as per the needs of the industry.

Dr Anil Gupta, Associate Dean (SW) and Secretary, UJAA conducted the proceedings and presented the formal vote of thanks while Dr Rachna Mahajan, Faculty Coordinator (Alumni Relations) from The Business School coordinated the event.

Among other present included Prof Alka Sharma, Dr Garima Gupta, Dr Shallu Sharma, Mansi Mantoo, students, scholars, faculty members from other departments & offsite campuses of the University.
