Awareness program organized for Samba transporters

SAMBA: The Motor vehicle Department Samba today organized an awareness camp at Auto stand Vijaypur to apprise the transporters and locals about the significant amendment in J&K Motor Vehicles Rules for Contract Carriage Permits.

ARTO, Rehana Tabassum said that the move aims to make the process easy and pro people. "J&K UT has decided to scrap the Letter of Authority which was earlier mandatory for registration of commercial vehicles," she said.

The department has also decided to further simplify the permit procedures and remove the granting of Letter of Authority step and now onwards applicants can apply on Transport Department's website directly for permit after registration of vehicle under contract carriages segment.
