GDC Udhampur organises quiz competition on Microbiology

UDHAMPUR: To commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr J.C Bose, the renowned biologist, physicist and early writer of science fiction, the department of botany Government Degree College Udhampur organised a quiz on Microbiology under the stewardship of the Principal Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta.
The quiz was organised in 5 rounds of 30 questions each .The teams were named after the famous biologist viz team Leevenhock, team Robert Kotch ,Team Louis Pasteur, team Edward Jenner, Team Alexander Fleming.
The team Louis Pasteur was emerged victorious while the team Flemmings was the Runner Up
There was a neck to neck fight for the Summit slot between the winner and runner up team as the winning margin was just 0.5 marks.
The certificates of merit and participation were distributed among the contestants.
The event was coordinated by Prof. Asma Javaid, while Dr Swarn Singh was time keeper and Prof Shivani Sharma was the score keeper.
The Valedictory Function started with the welcome address of HOD Botany, Prof Ramesh Kumar Atri. The chief guest was Prof Shalabh from IIT Kanpur, while College Principal Dr Romesh Kumar Gupta was the guest of Honour.
The chief guest appreciated the department of botany and the participants for their efforts. He added these competitions are the milestones in the journey of success.
The College principal also encouraged the students for maximum participation in such competitions and lauded the dept. for organising such kinds of academic events.
The session was also attended by Prof Rozy Bamba, Prof Jawaid Sarver and Rajneesh Mahajan, Lab assistant Botany department.
The session was compared by Prof Shivani Sharma.
