JU organises Lecture on Mahaparinirvana Diwas

JAMMU: Centre for Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy in collaboration with the Department of Philosophy, University of Jammu under the banner of Shiksha Sanskriti Uthan Niyas, JU chapter organized a Public talk on the topic "Influence of Buddhism on Ambedkar".

Prof. Jasbir Singh formally welcomes the guests and threw light on the life of Dr. B.R Ambedkar and explains the relevance of Dr.Ambedkar's thoughts in the present-day world.

Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh, Director of the Center for Comparative Religion and Civilization, Central University of Jammu was the main speaker. In his lecture, he focused on three segments of life and the influence of religion on the work of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

According to him, "The Marxists may easily laugh at it and may ridicule the very idea of treating Marx and Buddha on the same level. If the Marxists keep back their prejudices and study the Buddha and understand what he stood for, I am sure they will change their attitude". Dr. B. R. Ambedkar emphasized that the function of Religion is to reconstruct the world and to make it happy and not to explain its origin or its end.

Dr. B.R Ambedkar never negated ‘Sanatan Dharma' while adopting Buddhism.

Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the father of the Indian Constitution, spent his entire life in the struggle against the caste system prevalent in Indian society. Baba Saheb, despite being born into a lower caste, was a Brahmin by karma. Which caste you are born in does not matter.

It matters only and only your karma. A person is low by low karma, and a person is high by high karma. Therefore, we can say that Dr.Ambedkar was the architect of social harmony, he said. While concluding, he said that the life and works of Dr.Ambedkar rely on 3 important pillars ‘tathya, kathya and sateya'

Ashok Kumar, JKAS, Mission Director RUSA, J&K UT in his remarks, emphasized that it is important to study the ideology of Baba Saheb. It is very important to know the contribution of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar for the betterment of society.

To understand the real essence of the works of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, it is important to organize such types of interactions and lectures and follow the Eightfold path of Buddhism, to increase our concentration and focus in life.
