JU organises One Week Faculty Development Programme on MOOCs & E-Learning technologies

JAMMU: One Week Faculty Development Program on MOOCs and E-Learning Technologies in association with National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi started at the Department of CS&IT, University of Jammu, today.

Prof. Vinod Sharma, Director, Ramnagar Campus, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

Prof. Vinod Sharma while addressing the gathering appreciated the faculty members for organizing this FDP and taking such initiatives in which hands-on training is being imparted to the participants for building the competencies for blended teaching and learning.

He emphasized that this FDP focuses on e-content Development in Higher education learning which serves as one of the main objectives of the new National Education Policy 2020 (NEP).

Prof. Parveen Kumar Lehana, Head, Department of Electronics, University of Jammu, the guest of honour, encouraged the participants to grab on to this grand opportunity with an open mind and work hard to extensively use ICT in teaching-learning & evaluation.

He wished the participants for an engaging and fruitful learning session.

Prof. Pawanesh Abrol, Head of the Department and Convener of the FDP, while formally welcoming the guests, apprised about the need for this training and emphasized on the online content generation and adoption using the latest learning management systems.

Prof. Abrol reiterated that in the fast-growing knowledge economy of the country, it is essential to develop competencies for blended teaching & learning and designing of massive open online courses (MOOC)by the faculty across different disciplines using the latest tools and platforms.

Prof J. N. Baliya, Head, Department of Educational Studies, Central University, Jammu, Dr. Srinivas, Head, ICT & Project Management Unit, NIEPA, New Delhi, Dr. Ashok Sharma, Bhaderwah Campus are among the prominent resource persons who shall be interacting with the participants during one-week FDP on various topics like learning analytics, machine learning based models, Moodle cloud, interactive video tools etc.

Jasbir Singh, Organizing Secretary apprised the audience about the participants and course contents of the FDP.

Palak Mahajan concluded the inaugural session with a formal vote of thanks. Ms. Hiteshwari Sharma conducted the proceeding of the program.

Prominent among those who attended the FDP included Dr. Jatinder Manhas, Dr. Suresh Rao, research scholars besides the registered participants.
