Professor Rajni Kant elected National President of Indian Crystallographic Association

JAMMU: The 49th National Seminar on Crystallographic organized by the department of Physics, University of Jammu in collaboration with the national committee on crystallography for Indian Act Science Academy (INSA) and the international union of Crystallography concludes today at General Zorawar Singh, Auditorium.

The seminar was inaugurated by Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof. J.P Singh and Dr. Shekhar C Mande (former DG-CSIR).

In the Annual General body of the Association, Professor Rajni Kant, the convener of the seminar has been elected as the National President of the Indian Crystallographic Association for a period of three years starting from Dec 2022-2025.

It is a historic moment for the University of Jammu to have Prof. Rajni Kant, Dean Research Studies and Dean Faculty of Sciences, as the national position which once remained occupied by Prof. Krishan Lal ( Former President-INSA), Prof. M.vijayan (former President-INSA), Dr. Shekhar C Mande (former DG-CSIR), Prof. T.P. Singh (Distinguished Research Professor of DST-SERB, AIIMS, N. Delhi) and many more of similar stature. Prof Rajni Kant and his research group and students of past and present have made the University of Jammu to make its mark at the national and international levels.

A total number of over one hundred seventy-five research presentations were made during the course of a three-day Seminar and various important resolutions and recommendations were made and the most important is the constitution of a national commission on Crystallographic teaching in colleges & schools so that such a vital component of materials research becomes popular amongst the students at the +2 and +3 level.

The Seminar has seen participation from almost all state Universities, Central Universities, IITs, NITs and various national laboratories. The proceedings were concluded with a vote of thanks to all those who have contributed to the organisation of the seminar.
