DLSA Reasi hosts interactive cum awareness session for senior citizens

REASI: District Legal Services Authority Reasi today observed "International Day of Older Persons" under the theme (2022) "Resilience of Older Persons in a Changing World" by hosting an interactive cum awareness program on "Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior citizens Act, 2007" for the Senior Citizens here in the Day Care Centre.

The event was held as per the Action Plan/Calendar for the month of October, 2022, issued by the J&K Legal Services Authority and also under the guidance and supervision of R.N.Watal, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Reasi,

Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Secretary District Legal Services Authority, addressed the gathering and explained the role of legal services institutions for the vulnerable sections of the society and the availability of free legal Aid to the category of persons as reflected in the Legal Services Authority Act, 1987, besides the category of persons as reflected in Jk Legal Services Authority Rules,2020.

Panel Advocate, M.S Mir, who was the resource person, deliberated upon the provisions of the 2007 Act whereas Advocates, Rashi Baru and P.D. Singh spoke on the issues of senior citizens.

The program was attended by the Senior Citizens and PLVs of District Reasi.

The Senior citizens also presented Shero Shayari, songs and also shared their experiences of life in the program.

Elderly Helpline No. 14567 was also shared with the senior citizens and they were also informed about the collaboration of J&K LSA with the Department of Social Welfare & Helpage to make the facility of Elderly Helpline a grand success.

At the end of the program vote of thanks was presented by Advocate, Shalinder Bhardawaj.
