DM Rolling cup ends in Rajouri

DC calls for holding more such events to keep youth on right track, away from drug abuse

RAJOURI: The DM Rolling Cup in the disciplines of chess, table tennis and BasketBall culminated today, here at Sports Stadium Kheora in Rajouri.

The closing ceremony was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal.

While interacting with the players, the DC said that such sports events are aimed at channelising the energies of the youth in a positive direction so that they can contribute more and more for the development of the Nation.

He elaborately explained several initiatives the Government has launched to promote and boost sports activities and infrastructure as well.

The Deputy Commissioner also added that the event will also help in resource mapping and pump in new confidence among the youths.

Saying that the sports play an important role in curbing the menace of drug abuse, the DC also emphasized the Youth Services and Sports Department to organize such sports events on a regular basis to keep the youth away from drug addiction.

While enumerating scores of measures being taken by the Govt to promote sports activities, he said that the Govt is fully committed to giving impetus to sporting activities and necessary measures are being taken to provide them the best possible platforms to the budding players where they can showcase their talent.

He also said that youths are the future of our country and should participate in nation building activities and not fall prey to drug abuse.

The Deputy Commissioner also extended best wishes to the players for achieving new heights of success and urged them to keep playing with the same zeal.

It is pertinent to mention here that a series of activities are being organised in the district under Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan.

The event culminated today, started a month ago and was also organised as a part of Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan.
