Mega Yuva Utsav: Yuva Samvad held at GDC Women Anantnag

ANANTNAG: Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Anantnag in coordination with Government Degree College (GDC) for Women Anantnag today organised a Yuva Utsav on the theme ‘Goal of Development of India' at GDC Women Anantnag.

Similar programmes are being organised across the country in all 623 districts by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India and will continue to be organized till 15 October.

More than 300 participants from all blocks of Anantnag participated in various events like writing poetry, painting, photography, cultural events, Yuva Samvad etc. The winners of these competitions were awarded with cash prizes and certificates.

Vice chairman DDC Anantnag, Advocate Sheikh Javaid was the chief guest on the occasion. Speaking at the event, he said that youth are the future of the nation and proper channelization of their young energetic minds is the need of the hour.

He said it is morally obligatory on society to provide productive avenues to the youth and prevent them from straying toward illegal unlawful activities which include drug addiction, bung cultivation, etc.

He said the youth from Anantnag have time and again demonstrated their good potential and have excelled in various fields, and with proper counseling they will be important contributors to the development of the district he added.

Deputy Director NYK Anantnag while briefing the audience about the motive behind organising such programmes said that these programmes help to polish the inner hidden talent of the youth besides inculcating patriotic fervour in them.

Principal GCW Anantnag said that education is the most effective tool to overcome the social stratification, gender bias, drug abuse, etc, so the society must strive to impart education to the youth.

She said that awareness and institutional support are critical factors for achieving social change and that the persistent efforts being made by the District Administration are resulting in increased participation of youth in productive ventures

The programme witnessed large participation of students, media persons besides the competitors. The attending youth appreciated the move taken by the NYK and called for more such programmes.

Among others, the event was attended by faculty members of the college, media persons, officials of NYK, youth clubs, mahila mandals, social activists.
