Nursing Fest ‘Tarang' 2022 hosted by SMVDCoN concludes on a high note

KATRA: The 2-days Inter College Nursing Fest Tarang ‘2022', organised by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing (SMVDCoN), Kakryal, concluded with the valedictory function held at the Spiritual Growth Centre here today.

After two years gap due to pandemic ‘Nursing fest' has recommenced for the third time as per directions of Hon'ble Chairman, SMVDSB (Lieutenant Governor, JK-UT) who called that success as a nation can only be achieved by promoting a culture of ideas and innovation with dedication, discipline and determination".

Suresh Kumar Sharma (Retd.) Judge, Chairman, SMVDCoN, Governing Body and Member Shrine Board unfolded the fest yesterday by congratulating the students who came across Jammu & Kashmir (UT) for participation in the fest to showcase their talents and appreciated the hard work and efforts put in by the Principal & Faculty of the college (SMVDCoN) in organising this initiative.

Besides, emphasized the significance of creating a balance of scholastic and non scholastic activities in education for a vibrant personality which is a basic requisite of nurses of today.

Anshul Garg, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who gave away prizes to the winners of various competitions of TARANG ‘2022'. Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (SMVD), College of Nursing Kakryal, won the overall championship.

It is a Hat-Trick for SMVDCoN winning the overall championship consistently for three years 2018, 2019 and 2022. Stephens College of Nursing became the 1st runner up while Bee Enn College of Nursing was declared 2nd runner up.

CEO lauded the SMVD College of Nursing for successful completion of the event and congratulated the winners of various competitions and the participating students for displaying their talents.

He emphasized the need of upgrading the ‘Tarang' to the next level by adding more events and wider participation of nursing colleges of the neighbouring States.

On the occasion, he also enlightened various initiatives taken by the Shrine Board. He emphasized students to come up with innovative and new ideas to upgrade the accessibility of health services in JK-UT especially in rural areas.

Earlier, in the morning, Navneet Singh, Addl. Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB, declared open the athletics competitions at Shrine Board's Sports Complex at Katra.

In all, 400 students from 07 Nursing Colleges of the JK-UT, including the host institution participated in the Mega Fest. These included Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University College of Nursing, Jammu, Bee Enn College of Nursing, Jammu, Bee Enn Nursing Institute, Jammu, BR College of Paramedical Sciences and Nursing, Gangyal, DRD College of Nursing, Kathua, Stephens College of Nursing, Miransahib and host institution Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing, Kakryal.

The events organised during the Nursing Fest included Rangoli, Poster making, Elocution, Short Film, Street Play, Visual Aid Presentation, Face painting, hair styling (fun game) and various sports events like 100 meter sprint, 400 meter, 4 X 100 meters relay, shot-put, rope skipping and Tug of war (fun game).

The welcome address was presented by Dr. Shailla Cannie, Principal, SMVDCoN whereas Babitha K Devu, Organizing Secretary of Tarang - 2022 read out the activity report regarding the Nursing Fest and also presented the vote of thanks.

In rangoli, Pooja Verma and Simran Verma from SMVDCoN won 1st prize, Arzoo and Ragini from DRD College of Nursing (SMVDCoN) won 2nd prize while 3rd prize was secured by Tabassum Jameel and Fiza Gayab from Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah College of Nursing (BGSBU).

In Poster Making Competition Bharti Devi, BR College of Nursing, Angileena Burt, Stephens College of Nursing, Basit Jan, Bee Enn College of Nursing, Shamli Devi, SMVDCoN secured 1st 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. There was a tie for 2nd prize.

In Short Film Competition Harpreet Kour, BR College of Nursing, Shivali, SMVDCoN and Priya Sharma, Stephens College of Nursing secured 1st 2nd and 3rd positions whereas in Elocution Pawandeep Kour, Stephens College of Nursing, Faiza Farooq, SMVDCoN and Rafia Riyaz, Bee Enn College of Nursing secured 1st 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

In Street Play Team SMVDCoN secured 1st Prize while Team B R College of Nursing secured 2nd prize. Team Bee Enn College of Nursing won the 3rd prize.

In Face Painting, Rashi Sharma, Stephens College of Nursing, Gungun, SMVDCoN and Bharti Sangral, Bee Enn College of Nursing won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

In Visual Aid Model Preparation & Presentation Kajol Devi, Bee Enn College of Nursing won the 1st prize. Avneet Kour, Stephens College of Nursing and Shasta Anjam, BGSBU won the 2nd prizes. Ankush, DRD College of Nursing secured 3rd prize.

In the Talent Night Team Stephens College of Nursing secured 1st position while Team SMVDCoN secured 2nd Position. Bee Enn Institute of Nursing secured the 3rd Position.

In the sports competition, Neetika, Stephens College of Nursing, Tanvee Raina, SMVDCoN, Rohini Rajput, SMVDCoN secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

In 400 mtr race Priya, SMVDCoN, Namiah Fharat, BGBSU, Manmeet Kour, BR College of Nursing 1st 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

In 4x100 mtr relay Team Stephens College of Nursing secured 1st position while Team SMVDCoN secured 2nd Position. Team BGSBU secured 3rd Position.

In Shot Put, Pawandeep Kour, Stephens College of Nursing, Bilkees Jan, BGSBU, and Sonal Kotwal, Bee Enn College of Nursing secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

In rope skipping Pawandeep Kour, Stephens College of Nursing, Rubeena, SMVDCoN, and Murti Devi, BR College of Nursing secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

In March Past Team SMVDCoN secured 1st position while Bee Enn College of Nursing secured the 2nd position and 3rd position was secured by Team Bee Enn Institute of Nursing.

Among other eminent guests who were present during the valedictory included Navneet Singh, Addl. CEO;Dr. JC Mehra, Joint CEO; Chandra Prakash, Dy. CEO, SMVDSB and Ajay Salaan,Asstt. CEO, SMVDSB, besides, faculty and staff of SMVDCoN and other participating colleges.
