Legal awareness program held at MV International School

SAMBA: To arouse legal consciousness among the students a ‘Legal Awareness Program' was organised in MV International School today.

The program was conducted by a team of learned members from judiciary, headed by Chief Guest Slahuddin Ahmed, Civil Judge & Secretary District Legal Service Authority Samba.

Advocates and office bearers of Bar Association Samba, graced the occasion and shared their views on a wide range of topics related to children in conflict with law; juvenile justice law; legal proceedings; child rights and responsibilities; delinquency; bullying; cyber crimes etc with emphasis on their prevention and reporting.

Advocate Hitesh Diwedi from District Court Samba threw light on juvenile justice, taking into account the present challenges that children have to face in their day to day schedules, whether in school or at home or in market places. He apprised them about the legal procedures that have to be followed in case of any abuse or misconduct with any child.

Advocate Mandeep Singh Sambyal, President Bar Association Samba shared examples of actions that children and adults might be doing without being aware of the fact that they can come under the preview of unforeseen crimes.

He advised the children that in addition to avoiding any action against the law, children should carry this message to their homes, friends and families that we need to report about any unlawful activity that might be happening around us, to stop their spread in the society.

Advocate Farhan Mirza, J&K High Court Jammu; members of Bar Association Samba - Advocate Dhanraj Singh (General Secretary) & Advocate Ch. Balbir Singh (Vice President); Chairman of School Hira Lal Abrol; Director Gourav Abrol; Principal Kundan Lal Dogra along with staff and students from classes 9th to 11th attended the program.

The Chief Guest and the team of panelists patiently heard the queries of students and answered each one of them with facts and examples of the cases related to their questions. He complimented the students and staff for the diversity of their thoughts and ideas.

Gourav Abrol proposed the vote of thanks and shared the commitment of MV International School family to make the society a happy place to live in.
