JSS Kathua organises Inter School Poem Recitation Competition

KATHUA: Jammu Sanskriti School Kathua organised Sahodaya Inter School Poem Recitation Competition under the banner of Sahodaya School Complex Jammu Chapter.

The topic for the Poem Recitation was "India of My Dreams". 29 reputed Sahodaya Schools of the Jammu region, all CBSE affiliated, participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. The objective to organize Poem Recitation was to develop communication skills and confidence and to remove stage fear among children.

Sunil Kumar, Regional Transport Officer Kathua was the chief guest on the occasion. Dr Seema Malpotra H.O.D (English) and Vice Principal Govt. Degree College Kathua was the esteemed Guest of Honour.

The Competition was judged by Eminent Jury Members comprising Pankaj Khajuria (Assistant Registrar Kathua Campus, University of Jammu), Dr Chetna Gupta (Assistant Professor, Department of English, GDC, Kathua) and Dr Eva Sharma (Assistant Professor Department of English, GDC Kathua).

The program was inaugurated with lamp lighting by the venerated chief guest, guest of honour, eminent jury members and Rohini Aima, Vice Chairperson Jammu Sanskriti Schools, Mili. R Sumbria Principal Jammu Sanskriti School Kathua along with Harleen Anand, Director Operation Jammu Sanskriti School Kathua and Govind Ram Sharma, Administrator Jammu Sanskriti School Kathua.

The program commenced with Mantra ucharan seeking blessings from the Almighty followed by the School Song which was melody-dipped and sung by the school choir.

Principal on the occasion extended a warm welcome to the August gathering and explained how Sahodaya which means rising together is organizing such marvelous events that provide a platform for students to exhibit their innate potential.

The first phase of poem recitation which comprised almost 15 schools followed a beautiful and elegant dance performance by the dancing Divas of JSS Kathua which left each one spellbound.

This was followed by the 2nd phase of the poem recitation competition which comprised 14 schools and was followed by yet another patriotic dance performance by the dynamic sanskritians.

In the sub-junior category, Ridit Jamwal from Army Public School Domana bagged the Ist position followed by Drishti Sharma from Sai International School, Hiranagar who ranked 2nd position. The third position was a tie between Kaashvi Gupta from JK Public School, Kathua and Sukhrashi Sambyal from JK Public School, Kunjwani.

The consolation prize was shared by Art Rai from Doon International School, Navya Rajput from Army Public School, Akhnoor and Aditya Raina from Army Public School, Miran Sahib.

Speaking on the occasion the chief guest expressed his immense surprise over the meticulous and diligent performance of the children.

Dr Seema Malpotra H.O.D (English) Vice-Principal, GDC kathua congratulated the participants and was excited to see the level of confidence of the students representing the Jammu Region.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Sonia (Deputy Coordinator) of Middle Wing of Jammu Sanskriti School Kathua who while addressing the gathering appreciated the efforts of the participants and the teaching fraternity of different schools who worked hard to prepare and mentor these budding poets also for displaying an amazing projection of competence and expression.

She extended her heartfelt gratification to all the special guests and the members of the jury for sparing their valuable time and making the event fruitful at the same time as the first and most productive platform for children.

The smooth conduct of the entire event was made possible by the valuable contribution and indefatigable endeavour of the Principal, Coordinators and entire staff of Jammu Sanskriti School Kathua.
