GCET Jammu organizes pledge ceremony and poster making competition

JAMMU: The NSS Unit of Government College of Engineering and Technology in collaboration with Khidmat Club today organised various events on the theme "Drug Abuse and Addiction" as a part of "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan" under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav.

These programmes were initiated under the patronage of principal Prof. (Dr.) Sameru Sharma. In her address to the students she asked them to spread the awareness of Drug Abuse and addiction among common masses and also abstain themselves from drug addiction as drug abuse may lead to social, physical, emotional and job-related problems.

The event started with the pledge taking ceremony in which Jaanvi Sharma, a senior NSS volunteer administered the pledge to make Nasha Mukt Bharat to all the students and staff members.

The pledge was followed by the poster making event in which scores of students from all the branches of Engineering made the posters and presented their ideas about the theme of the event. They displayed their posters and explained the theme depicted on the poster.

The staff members were present during the event were include Prof. Sanjeev. K. Gupta (HOD Civil), Er. Sanjeenv Gupta (Convenor Khidmat Club), Dr. Raman Gupta NSS Programme officer, Dr. Heera Saini (Coordinator Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat) Altaf Ahmad (Hostel Warden), Dr. Rajinder Singh Er. Surjeet Singh, Balbir Singh and Er. Atit Sharma and Sunil Sharma.

The event was organised by student coordinators Jaanvi Sharma, Mohd. Sami, Prajwal Nagar, Gazanfar Kazmi, Rakshant Balotra, Taran Bali and Satvik Thakur.

The principal of the college lauded the participation of students and youth in such programmes.
