Sports Council honours sports veterans, promoters, journalists

JAMMU: In a tribute to hockey wizard major Dhyan Chand, J&K Sports Council organised an impressive and well-attended function after holding a hockey match to celebrate the Day at KK Hakku Hockey Stadium, Jammu.
ADGP Mukesh Singh was the chief guest, while Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, presided over the function. Sandeep Choudhary SSP, Mubassir Latifi (SSP), Arun Manhas, MD J&K Agro Industries and Pradeep Dutta, Senior Editor and J&K Bureau Chief Times Now were the guests of honour.
The function began with a floral tribute to Major Dhyan Chand.
On the occasion, the chief guest and other dignitaries honoured sports promoters, sports journalists and veteran sports personalities for their outstanding contribution in the field of sports.

Speaking on the occasion, Mukesh Singh and Ramesh Kumar threw light on the significance of the day and the life of major Dhyan Chand.
Earlier, Ranjeet Kalra, ace Sports Administrator and Member Sports Council in his welcome address highlighted the contribution of sports promoters in patting and promoting budding sportspersons. He also outlined the progressive initiatives of the Sports Council under its President LG Manoj Sinha.
The function was held under the supervision of Secretary Sports Council Nuzhat Gul.
