Eat Right Walkathon, Eat Right Mela organised at Vijaypur Samba

SAMBA: As a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and to commemorate 75 years of Independence, District Administration Samba, in collaboration with FSSAI Delhi today organised Eat right Walkathon and Eat Right Mela here at Vijaypur.

The event was organised on the directions of Shakeel ul Rehman, Commissioner FDA J&K by Assistant Commissioner, Food safety, District Samba along with his team of Enforcement officers.

The Walkathon was flagged off by the Chief Guest Rajinder Singh, Additional District Development Commissioner in presence of the Guests of Honour, Suram Chand Sharma, ADC; Vinay Kumar, SDM Vijaypur; Jaswant Singh, Chief Education Officer; Dr. Vidhi, Programme Officer ICDS Samba; Fateh Singh, Principal GHSS Vijaypur & other Officers from Government Higher Secondary School Vijaypur.

The Walkathon passed through the main Market and culminated back at GHSS Vijaypur.

Around 200 students, Civil and Police Officers and school staff members participated in the Walkathon & followed by a Yoga session. The students raised slogans and encouraged the masses to Eat Right, Eat Healthy and Fortified.

The yoga session witnessed participation of 70 students.

Later, the student participants were felicitated with appreciation certificates.

The Eat Right mela also witnessed participation of people from all walks of life, where stalls were step up by government Departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, ICDS, AYUSH, Ummed Self help Groups, besides Business Operators-JK Oil industries, Amul Milk, Natraj Dry Fruit, Ajanta P Mark Atta & trade Associations.

The departments and Food Business Associations showcased their products to inculcate the habits of safe & healthy eating among the Consumers.

In his address, the Chief Guest, ADDC Samba said that such programs are being organised to create & build awareness about Safe & healthy diets through an interactive and informative model.

He complimented the efforts of the Department of Food Safety. He stressed on the need for holding such workshops & camps also at Tehsil and block levels to spread maximum awareness about the" Eat Right, Eat Healthy & Eat Fortified".
