'Boycott Alia Bhatt' trends ahead of Darlings' release, netizens call her out for 'promoting domestic violence'

Alia Bhatt is currently gearing up for the release of her upcoming Netflix film, Darlings. The actress plays the role of Badrunissa Shaikh, a survivor of domestic violence. The movie also co-stars Vijay Varma, Shefali Shah, and Roshan Mathew in pivotal roles.

As many might have it, the movie has grabbed a lot of eyeballs, but while at it, 'boycott Alia Bhatt' is trending on Twitter. Just a day ahead of the movie release, people seem to be unhappy about how the film promotes domestic violence.

Vijay plays her husband on screen, Hamza, and the trailer showed us how the mother-daughter duo kidnap him, to take revenge for beating her up.

In an attempt to seek revenge, Alia's character goes to the extent of hitting him, pushing his face inside a tank of water, among other things. As a result, the people on the internet feel that the movie is promoting domestic violence, and glorifying it. While the movie centers mostly on how Alia's character is treating Hamza the way she has been treated, netizens feel differently.

As a result, the boycott trend has taken over the internet once again and everyone has a lot to say.
