JU organises Literary Function in collaboration with IMFA

JAMMU: To commemorate the 42nd death anniversary of legendary Urdu and Kashmiri poet Rasa Javedani, The Department of Urdu, University of Jammu and Institute of Music and Fine Arts University of Jammu today organized a Literary function/Mehfil E Ghazal in which various Urdu and Kashmiri scholars within and outside the state paid rich tributes to Rasa Javedani.

The program was presided over by Aseer Kishtwari While Rajni Dhingra Dean Research Studies graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Tej Krishan Bhat, Special Secretary to Govt. Agriculture production & farmer welfare department was the guest of honour.

Prominent Singers of the J&K UT Suraj Singh, Deepali Watal and Farooq Khokhar sang the Urdu and Kashmiri Ghazals of Rasa Javedani which mesmerized the audience and was appreciated by them.

Prof.shohab Inayat Malik, Principal IMFA and Prof.Mohd Reyaz Ahmed HOD Urdu, University of Jammu were also present in the presidium.

While speaking on the occasion Rajni Dingra, Dean Research Studies threw light on the life and works of Rasa Javedani.

He described him as a poet with a secular bent of mind who has projected the realities of life in his Kashmiri and Urdu poetry.

He was of the opinion that Rasa Javedani was the tallest poet of the Kashmiri language of the 20th century whose Kashmiri songs had earned a lot of appreciation in the Kashmiri speaking areas of J&K.

while paying tributes to Rasa Javedani Aseer Kishtwari recited some of his Urdu verses depicting the National Integration and Mutual Understanding.

He described him as not only as a poet par excellence but also as a noble human being.

He is the identity of Bhaderwah, his Kashmiri verses sung by Ghulam Nabi Doolwal, Raj Begum, Kailash Mehra and other famous singers of Kashmiri are popular even now a day.

He was a member of the 1st General council of the cultural academy and was very close to the then prime minister of J&K Ghulam Mohd Bakshi.

Speaking on the occasion Prof.Mohd Reyaz Ahmed HOD Urdu, described Rasa Javedani an Urdu poet who loved Urdu languages very much, his Nazam written in Urdu speaks his love toward the Urdu language like Mirza Galib.

Rasa Javedani has not written so much poetry on Urdu but he has given to Urdu a high standard of poetry, it is because of his poetry that J&K is recognized throughout the country.

In his address, Prof. Tej Krishan Bhat too paid glowing tributes to Rasa Javedani. He described him as the poet of humanity who through his Urdu poetry had spread love in society. He is one of the tallest poets of J&K whose contribution to the development of the Urdu language could not be ignored.

He further said that Rasa Javedani was a poet by birth. He through his poetry has given us the message of Communal Harmony and Mutual Understanding.

Earlier in his welcome address Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik President Rasa Javedani Memorial Literary Society highlighted the qualities of the head and heart of Rasa Javedani and described him as the Galib of Kashmiri Ghazal.

Because of his Kashmiri poetry, Ghazals were written in Kashmiri Language keeping in view the form of ghazal writing.

The programme was conducted by Dr.Abdul Rashid Manhas While the vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Chaman Lal. Prominent who present on the occasion are Prof. Lalit Mangotra, Dr. Chaman Lal, Dr. Abdul Rashid Manhas, Dr. Farhat Shamim, Pyare Hatash,Dr. Abdul Qayoom,Dr.Javaid Shahabadi, Dr. Raza Mehmood, Dr. Ajaz Ahmed, Dr.Abdul Majeed, students, scholars and faculty members of IMFA and Urdu department.
