SHTM, JU organising Sanskrit Darpan: Expression of Incredible India

JAMMU: School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, University of Jammu organized a cultural Event SANSKRIT DARPAN: Expression of Incredible India in the department under the aegis of Tourism Club, SHTM on May 26, 2022.

Prof Parikshat Singh Manhas, Director, SHTM, welcomed the faculty, students, and scholars for the event.

He highlighted the importance of conducting these cultural events in academics, particularly in the tourism and hospitality industry and focussed upon that tourism is all about understanding and promoting the various cultures. He also mentioned that SHTM is regularly organising different programmes in the form of educational and field visits of students of MBA(HT) and BBA(HM) to different places to provide students with practical exposure.

The Chief Guest on the occasion was Prof. Rajni Dhingra, Dean Research Studies, University of Jammu. She appreciated the students for depicting the culture of Jammu and Kashmir and India at large at one platform.

The students of the department showcased the culture of Jammu and Kashmir by organizing various activities like food stalls related to Dogra cuisine, singing and dancing performances, a ramp walk and a competition of Fireless Cooking. Prof. Deepak Raj Gupta, SHTM, in his remarks said that the students need to hone their skills by organizing and participating in such events.

Earlier in the morning, a Fireless cooking competition was held in which the students of SHTM participated and the event was judged by Dr. Komal Nagar, Associate Professor, The Business School and Dr. Isha Sharma, Assistant Professor, ICCCR&HRM, University of Jammu. The first prize was won by Aman, Ishita and Taran, second prize by Mohit, Danish and Shadab and third prize by Agreema, Janvi and Gousia.

Another competition was held in the start of the month wherein students were asked to prepare the videos of the destination promotion of Ramnagar, where they went for the field visit.

The prize of this competition was won by Alisha, a student of MBA(HT) 4th sem on the basis of maximum likes and Vidhushi, a student of MBA(HT) 4th sem on the basis of content.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Suvidha Khanna, Associate Professor, School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, University of Jammu and Dr. Anil Gupta was the event Deputy Coordinator.

Aman Sharma, Departmental cultural secretary presented the formal vote of thanks.
