IIMC announces admission to various Post Graduate Diploma Courses in Journalism for 2021-22

JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), country's most premier institute for training and research in journalism and mass communication under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, is inviting applications for admission to Post Graduate Diploma Journalism courses in English, Hindi, Urdu, Radio and Television, Advertising & Public Relations, Odia, Marathi and Malayalam for the session 2021-2022. These courses would be run across six campuses including one in Jammu. Graduates in any discipline are eligible for admission to these Post Graduate Diploma courses.
The process for admission started on July 20, 2021, and the last date for online application is August 9, 2021. The entrance tests for all courses will be held on August 29 and exam results will be declared on September 10. The online application form and IIMC Bulletin for admissions are available on www.iimc.nta.ac.in and www.iimc.gov.in
Admissions in charge Prof. Rajesh Kumar said, there are six campuses of IIMC in the country. The six campuses are in New Delhi, Dhenkanal, Aizwal, Amravati, Kottayam and Jammu. IIMC offers eight courses - PG Diploma in Hindi Journalism, PG Diploma in English Journalism, PG Diploma in Public Relations & Advertising, PG Diploma in Radio & Television and Regional Language Journalism courses on Odia, Marathi, Malayalam and Urdu.
Regional Director of the Jammu campus, Prof Rakesh Kumar Goswami, said Jammu campus runs the PG Diploma in English Journalism course.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the entrance test, which will be a Computer Based Test (CBT). The test will be held at test centres in 25 cities across the country. Details about the admission process are available in IIMC Admission Prospectus and Instruction Sheet, available on the IIMC website - www.iimc.gov.in
Prof Goswami said this year, there will be two separate entrance tests on August 29, 2021, Sunday. One test will be from 10.00 AM to 12.00 PM for Four (04) courses - PG Diploma in Hindi Journalism, PG Diploma in English Journalism, PG Diploma in Public Relations & Advertising and PG Diploma in Radio & Television. The second test will be held from 2.00 PM to 4.00 PM and it will be for the Regional Language courses - Odia, Marathi, Malayalam and Urdu.
Each Test will be of two hours (120 minutes) duration and will comprise 100 multiple choice questions (MCQ) on General Knowledge & General Aptitude including a few general questions from the field of Media & Communication carrying 100 marks. Questions for courses other than regional language journalism will be in both English and Hindi. Questions for regional language courses will be in the respective regional language.
The Jammu campus Regional Director said candidates can apply for more than one course and for both tests. But they must indicate their preference, serial wise in their online application form and pay the fee for each course. He advised the candidates to go through the admission prospectus carefully before filling the online admission form.
The result of the entrance test will be announced on the IIMC website on September 10. The session will start from the last week of September.
