JUVC Inaugurates Five Day Online Interactive Workshop

JAMMU: The Centre for Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy (CSSEIP), University of Jammu is organizing 5 Day Online Interactive Workshop from 7-11 July 2021.
The inaugural session of the workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Manoj K. Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu.
While addressing virtually, he emphasized that exclusion process among marginalized communities seen in their everyday lives, interactions and social aspects of concerns such as housing, health, employment, education, participation in social activities and festivities, social interaction and social intercourse.
A social pattern excludes certain communities and groups from interaction and access to social resources through social arrangements, normative value systems, and customs.
He emphasized that through these workshops, in this pandemic situation, has provided us all the opportunity to look into the priorities of the socially excluded people like food, shelter, health etc with social interaction especially of SC's,ST's And Dalits and weaker section of the society.
Prof. Ajailiu Niumai, Head CSSEIP, University of Hyderabad was the Chief Guest and the keynote speaker for the inaugural session of the workshop. In her keynote address, she deliberated on various dimensions of research and especially its methodology on the excluded and marginalized sections of the society which need to be brought at the mainstream development processes.
She shared her experiences of conducting research on sensitive issues of trafficking of women and children from Manipur to different parts of India and overseas; how to address the voices of survivors fighting with social stigmas and that trafficking is about the neglect of girls and women from marginalized communities.
Lastly, she stressed upon that during these COVID times, the young researchers should do data collection through digital modes and should focus on reading articles, books, and other secondary sources also.
Prof. Jasbir Singh, Director welcomed the guests and gave a brief outline of the works done at the CSSEIP centre. Around 85 participants from different universities have attended the inaugural session and will be attending the workshop for the next four days.
The interactive session was followed by a series of questions by the participants which were appreciatively answered by the speaker. Dr. Neharica Subhash presented a formal vote of thanks.
