GGM Science College organizes inter collegiate online video making competition and plantation drive on World Environment Day

JAMMU: GGM Science College under the patronage of Principal Dr. Ravender Tickoo celebrated World Environment Day with the theme Ecosystem Restoration.

An online video making competition was organized by NSS in collaboration with Dept. of Environmental Sciences under the guidance of NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan.

A total of sixty students from fourteen different institutes of JK UT participated in the event to showcase their creativity, knowledge, awareness for the environment in two minute video clips on the topic " Impact of Covid 19 on environment and lifestyle" emphasizing on the relationship between human systems and natural systems in the pandemic.

The competition was judged by Prof. Preeti Dogra (HOD EVS) and Dr. Arti Sharma (Asstt. Prof. EVS). E- certificates were given to all participants.

The first position was shared by Anand Singh, GDC Mishriwala, Rahul Khullar GDC Paloura, Danish Sambyal and Archit Choudhary, GGM Science College.

The second position was shared by Shaku Sharma and Avleen Kour, GGM Science College, Hitesh Kumar, SPMR Commerce College, Riya Kaw and Vikrant Singh GDC Paloura, Rahul Sharma, KC College of Education.

The third position was shared by Zahara Sheikh and Sahil Sharma GGM Science College, Junaid Ul Wahid Bhat, Maryam Zahoor, Fiza Shabir SP College Srinagar, Deepasha BBA SPMR Commerce, Sneha Bali and Charu Sharma, MAM PG College.

NSS volunteers following "Recreate, Reimagine, Restore" planted saplings at their home and took pledge to nurture them under the plantation drive by NSS.

The aim of the program is to focus on the importance of the environment and to remind people that nature should not be taken for granted.
