Prof. Parikshat Singh Manhas appointed Co-Leader of the Major Initiative of UNWTO Affiliate Members Working Group on Tourism and Culture

JAMMU: Prof. Parikshat Singh Manhas presently working as Professor, University of Jammu has been appointed as Co-Leader of the Organizing Committee at the international level of a major initiative of UNWTO Affiliate Members Working Group on Tourism and Culture Synergies.
The purpose of this initiative is to map best practices in terms of synergies between tourism and culture by stakeholders in destinations at the local/regional level in all UNWTO regions. The recommendations adopted by the participants at the four world conferences organized jointly by UNWTO and UNESCO between 2015 and 2019 will serve as a reference framework.
The Working Group on Tourism and Culture Synergies is led by the World Centre of Excellence for Destinations and five other Affiliate members George Washington University, Chameleon Strategies, CETT, Turisme de Barcelona, Université du Québec à Montréal.
The aim of this working group is to align efforts within Affiliate Members to actively contribute to the implementation of the commitments and actions outlined in declarations adopted by four UNWTO/ UNESCO World Conferences on Tourism and Culture.
In order to create a roadmap to guide their efforts, the working group is going to conduct an online survey in the Fall 2020. Other members of this Organizing Committee are from Canada, Spain, USA, Cameroun and Morocco including the UNESCO chair from Spain.
It is pertinent to mention here that Prof. Parikshat Singh Manhas is also Regional Director for Asia and Eastern Europe by World Centre of Excellence for Destinations (CED). He is also Coordinator, of Global Understanding Course at University of Jammu being run in collaboration with East Carolina University, USA and Coordinator, UGC - Innovative Programme.
He is also Director, University of Jammu Special Purpose Vehicle Foundation - A Section 8 Company, Director, Business Incubation and Innovation Centre, University of Jammu and President, Institution Innovation Council, University of Jammu - A Innovation Cell, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India Initiative. He is also Fellow of the Australia India Institute, New Delhi.
He was also Member of the Tourism Advisory Board of the State of Jammu & Kashmir which was headed by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of State of Jammu & Kashmir. Presently he is a Visiting Professor, Taylor's School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts, Taylors University, Malaysia and Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management (EAHM), Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
He has been a Visiting Professor to Zhubanov State University of Akotbe, Akotbe, Republic of Kazakhstan, Bashkir State University, Ufa, Bashkortostan, Russia and Graduate School of Business, ESAN University, Lima, Peru. Dr. Parikshat is board member of the Asia Pacific Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (APacCHRIE) and also member - Research Committee and Education Committee of International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (ICHRIE).
He has been awarded Major Project's as the Project leader under the UK India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI) Thematic Partnerships Scheme during the year 2015 and 2017.
He was a Commonwealth Fellow for the year 2014, Hungarian Faculty Research Fellow in 2013 under the Indo Hungarian Educational Exchange Program for the year 2012-13, Shastri Indo-Canadian fellow in 2009 and won Career Award for Best Young Teacher (CAYT) awarded by All Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE) - Government of India, 2009.
