Nagrota Sangarish Samiti intensifies stir on Degree College

NAGROTA: Nagrota Sangarash Samiti today resolved to intensify its peaceful stir in favour of the demand about early execution of work on the Government Degree College here, questioning the lackadaisical approach of the Higher Education Department in implementing the government decision.

"There has to be some sort of accountability especially when it comes to abiding the government decisions", Block National Conference President Rameshwar Dutt said at the Dharna site this afternoon, adding that the people in general and students in particular are genuinely feeling anguished over stopping of the work on the college complex despite its foundation stone laid by the Commissioner/Secretary Higher Education Department last year.

"Given the assurances held out by the top government functionaries at the time of stone laying ceremony the complex should have been completed by now", he lamented, adding that the delay is exposing the intent of those having vested interest, which in no way is in the interest of the student community.

Rameshwar Dutt expressed anguish over the insensitivity of the government, which, he said, has preferred to remain mute spectators to the plight of the protestors who are constrained to sit in the open in this scorching heat and the ongoing pandemic for securing the future of their children.

Prominent among those who staged sit-in-dharna included Ashok Thakur, Sham Lal Sharma, Raj Devi, Santosh Kumari, Ravi Singh Madan Lal, Neelam Sharma, Radha Devi, Anju Devi, Lalita Devi, Sunita Thakur, Vinod Sharma, Naresh Kumar, Rajiv Singh Slathia, Raj Kumar, Hem Raj, Sanjay Sharma, Vikay Sharma, Manorma Kumari and others.
