J&K Ex-Servicemen hold protest

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Ex-Servicemen held protest here on Thursday.

The protestors appealed to the Government of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for taking lenient views to reservation of Ex-Servicemen in Government, PSU and Banking Sectors in UT.

They said that J&K Bank advertise 1500 posts for Banking Associates with last date of 24-07-2020, adding that the J&K Bank applies J&K Reservation Act 2004 and amendments thereafter.

As per the Government of J&K letters, the 6 per cent horizontal reservation of the available vacancies shall be provided where the maximum basic pay scale does not exceed Rs 10,500 (pre-revised) for 5th Pay Commission and the same revised in 6th Pay Commission as PB-2 (9300-34600) + 4280 and 7th Pay Commission as Level 6 E (35900-113500) for non-gazetted jobs only along with appropriate limit upper age has been given to the Ex-Servicemen and the same rule and regulations are being used by the various Government and autonomous agencies for recruitment in Jammu and Kashmir, they said, adding that similarly, the J&K Bank has also issued notification for recruitment of Bank Associates and providing us equal opportunity be mentioning the same horizontal reservation to Ex-Servicemen. But it has been noticed that J&K Bank has neither brought out percentage of 6 per cent horizontal reservation for Ex-Servicemen as per above Reservation Act and nor given age limit of Ex-Servicemen, thereby violating the constitutional rights of Ex-Servicemen.

J&K Ex-Servicemen have appealed to Lieutenant Governor, Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary Finance, Commissioner Secretary GAD and Chairman J&K Bank to extend the last date of online registration of application for next one month and modify the above mentioned advertisement also by adding the para for horizontal reservation to Ex-Servicemen.

They further requested to extend the 6 per cent horizontal reservation as 15 per cent vertical reservation in all gazetted and non-gazetted jobs for Ex-Servicemen and their children.

As other states and union territory provides upto 15 per cent reservation for Ex-Servicemen, they requested the Government to modify the necessary amendments for interest and welfare of Ex-Servicemen.
