Last batch of 288 Iran returnees reaches Kargil

KARGIL: The last batch of 288 pilgrims from Kargil including 2 infants who were stranded in Iran for the last over 2 months reached Kargil on Monday evening.

The pilgrims had landed at Kushok Bakula Rinpochay Airport Leh through 2 special aircrafts of the Air India.

They were earlier flown to New Delhi from Tehran through a special flight of the Mahan Airways.

The Iran returnees were later taken to 8 quarantine facilities set up by the District Administration Kargil in various hotels and resorts in the district where they will go for institutional quarantine.

Medicare and all other requisite facilities would be given to the pilgrims during the quarantine period besides their COVID-19 tests would also be conducted as a precautionary measure.

Nodal Officer Quarantine Facilities and Naib Tehsildar Kargil Muhammad Hassan and other concerned officers of the District Administration extended warm welcome to the pilgrims on their arrival back home and while inquiring about their well being urged them to complete the 14 days mandatory quarantine period in the quarantine facilities before leaving for their respective families which is being done for their own safety and wellbeing and the safety of their families.

The pilgrims would be extended all necessary facilities and medical attention during their entire stay at the quarantine facilities, the officers assured.

The officers concerned while congratulating the passengers on their return back home appealed them to cooperate with the district authorities in ensuring strict adherence to the guidelines meant for prevention of prevention of COVID-19.
