Woman duped of Rs 22 lakh

SRINAGAR: A 35-year-old woman was allegedly duped of Rs 22 lakh by online fraudsters.

The J&K Cyber police station, Kashmir, have registered a case in this regard.

The police said the fraudsters told the victim that she had won an online lottery. "The complainant stated that she received an email/SMS, informing her that she had won a lottery and the prize money shall be transferred to her in foreign currency. She, accordingly, responded to the email...." he said. She was then asked to pay various charges before the prize money could be transferred to her.

"She then shifted Rs 22 lakh to various bank accounts and got duped."
