Delhi election symbolises BJP crusade for deprived: Dr Jitendra Singh

NEW DELHI: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that the forthcoming Delhi Assembly election symbolises BJP crusade for the deprived and those sections of society who were not granted justice and legitimate rights due to them.

Addressing a series of roadside election meetings in the Tilak Nagar Assembly constituency today for the BJP candidate, Rajiv Babbar, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the BJP government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the courageous decision of giving ownership rights to nearly 40 lakh people who were living in the national capital of India for several decades without being granted the possession of the houses in which they lived.

Similarly, he said, it is the BJP government which brought in the constitutional provision to grant citizenship rights to the members of minority communities, including the Sikhs from Afghanistan, who had settled in large numbers in various parts of Delhi including Tilak Nagar.

Questioning the legitimacy of those who seek to convert Shaheen Bagh as a battleground against BJP, Dr Jitendra Singh said, their only desperation is that they are against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his determined will to undo the injustice meted out by the previous governments.

He reiterated that not a single person had been deprived of his citizenship rights and therefore asked, what is the justification of the campaign against granting rights to the deserving and the oppressed.

During a visit to a colony dominated by Balmiki Samaj, Dr Jitendra Singh recalled that it is the Modi government which has brought justice to a large number of Balmiki Samaj families living in the Jammu region who had been deprived of their citizenship rights for over seven decades.

He said, it was inhuman that even if the son of a Balmiki family in Jammu obtained the highest educational qualification, he was not eligible to apply for a government job equivalent to his higher qualification and only now this has become possible after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A.

A vote for BJP, said Dr Jitendra Singh, will not only for the BJP but to strengthen Prime Minister Narendra Modi's stand for the deprived and also for determining the direction in which India will move forward.
