KARGIL: The weeklong ‘Matru Vandana Saptah’ campaign to spread awareness about Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) was inaugurated by CDPO Tai Suru Parveen Akhtar in Kargil.

The theme of the weeklong awareness campaign, which is being held from December 2 to December 8, is ‘Towards Building A Healthy Nation-Surakshit Janani, Viksit Dharini’.

While talking to media, Parveen Akhtar said that the weeklong celebration would include activities like meetings of Gram Sabha/Urban local bodies, enrolment drive of beneficiaries; drive for resolution of issues, backlog clearance drive, organisation of Village Health, Sanitation and Nutrition Day and others would be undertaken.

She sad that the department will explore possibilities for the 100 percent coverage of beneficiaries under the PMMVY scheme so that assistance can reach to targeted population.

She further urged the general public to approach concerned Anganwadi workers to get registered under the Scheme.

Parveen Akhtar said that despite of this bone chilling winter condition all the Angarwadi Workers and Helpers of Tai Suru will try hard to aware the people about the objective of the scheme, that is providing partial compensation for the wage loss in terms of cash incentives so that the women can take adequate rest before and after delivery of the first living child.

The cash incentive provided would lead to improved health seeking behavior amongst the Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers (PW&LM).

In the meantime people of Tai Suru appreciated the role played by CDPO Tai Suru Parveen Akhtar for making people aware about the schemes of the Government and helping people to avail benefit from these schemes.
